Fillable PDFs

Make a PDF fillable without rebuilding the document

Most of the PDFs that matter in daily work were never designed to be filled in. A lease template emailed from a letting agent, a supplier form saved from a website, a scanned application from a county office: each one opens as flat paper, and the only way to answer it is to print it, write on it and scan it back. That loop wastes paper and produces something no one can read afterwards.

DocPacker turns that flat page into a form you can complete on screen. You upload the PDF you already have, drop text fields, checkboxes, date fields and signature fields wherever the paper expects an answer, and preview the result. Building it costs nothing and needs no account. When the document is right, one credit removes the watermark and gives you the clean file.

What a fillable PDF actually is

A fillable PDF is still a PDF. The page content does not change; an invisible layer of form fields sits on top of it, positioned in the same coordinate space as the printed artwork. Because the layer is separate, the underlying page keeps its original resolution, its original margins and its original page size, which is why a well-made fillable PDF prints exactly like the document it was made from.

That matters when the recipient is a court, a bank or a property manager who expects a specific form. Rebuilding the form from scratch in a word processor almost always shifts the layout, changes the font and breaks the sense that it is the official document. Placing fields over the original page preserves all of it.

Placing fields where the paper expects them

Field placement is the whole job, and it is a visual one. Open the page, look at where each blank line sits, then drag a field box until it covers that line. Text fields take a name, an address or an amount. Date fields open a calendar on most devices. Checkboxes sit over the little printed squares. Signature fields give the signer a wide, shallow area the width of a signature line.

Fields are stored in page coordinates rather than screen pixels, so the same field lands in the same place whether the page is viewed on a 15-inch laptop or printed at full size. Nothing drifts, and nothing needs nudging twice.

Collecting answers instead of chasing paper

A fillable document can also become a link. Send that link to a tenant, a subcontractor or a client, and they fill the fields in a browser without installing anything or creating an account. Their answers come back attached to your document, listed with the time they were submitted, so you are not reconciling screenshots against an inbox.

This is how a rental application stops being a PDF attachment that comes back photographed sideways. The applicant types into the same fields you placed, the values arrive as text, and what you print is what they entered.

Printing at true size, not to fit

Every document here carries an explicit page size: Letter at 612 by 792 points, Legal at 612 by 1008 points, or A4. That size is written into the file, so a print dialog set to actual size reproduces the sheet at its true dimensions instead of shrinking it by a few percent to satisfy the printer margin.

That difference is small on a receipt and enormous on a recorded document, where a scaled page can mean a rejected filing. If the paper in the tray is the paper named in the file, actual size is all you ever need to select.

Build it, preview it free, pay once for the clean copy

Nothing here needs an account. You build the document, preview it with a watermark, and spend one credit only when you download the clean file. Credits never expire.

Questions about this document

Can I make a PDF fillable without an account?

Yes. Uploading, placing fields and previewing all work without signing in. An account is never required, not even to buy a clean file, because checkout is guest checkout with an email address for the receipt.

Does the finished PDF work in any reader?

The clean export is a standard PDF at the page size you chose, so it opens and prints in any reader and holds its true dimensions in a print dialog set to actual size.

Can I share the form so other people fill it in?

Yes. A document can produce a share link. Anyone with that link fills the fields in a browser and submits, and the answers are recorded against your document with a timestamp.

What happens to blank fields?

They stay blank. Nothing is auto-filled with invented names, addresses or amounts, and the document title is taken from the name you gave the file.
